Founded at the beginning of the 17th century, as part of the Catholic counter-reform, this urban female religious order arrived in Nozeroy in 1617 and had about fifty nuns in the blue dress. The church had two altars on top of one another, you can see their altar-tabernacle at the nearby church of Fraroz.

The resources of the community depended on the management of their many goods, income from rents (money lent to individuals) and their work (breeding, confectionery, sugared almonds, cannelas). The family of a nun was to grant her a rich personal dowry. They made magnificent embroidery known as orfroi, wheat straw, visible in the church of Nozeroy.
